NSF I-Corps Program

The NSF Innovation Corps (I-Corps) is a set of activities and programs that prepare scientists and engineers to extend their focus beyond the laboratory and broadens the impact of select, NSF-funded, basic-research projects. I-Teams, those funded by the I-Corps program, receive $50,000!

NCIIA E-Teams

Supports entrepreneurial students and student/faculty teams to accelerate the commercialization process of moving technology out of the laboratory setting and into industry. The E-Teams projects funds Stage 1 ideas up to $5000, Stage 2 ideas up to $20,000 and then 2-3 Stage 3 teams will be awarded $50,000 to pursue their concepts.

NIH Small Business Innovation Research

This National Institute of Health program aims to stimulate technological innovation that has potential for commercialization and public benefit by funding projects (up to $150,000 in Phase 1 and $1M in Phase 2) which are primarily involved with the biomedical or behavioral research arenas to improve human health.

NSF Small Business Innovation Research

This National Science Foundation program emphasizes support for technology startups with high technical risk and high commercial rewards. In Phase 1 – the first six months – this program grants $150k and projects that makes it through Phase 2 receive an additional $750k for the next two years.

Division of Research and Economic Development

The Office of Economic Development seeks to promote private- and public-sector partnerships in order to support economic and workforce development, to attract industry-sponsored research, and to protect and develop intellectual property.

Nevada Small Business Development Center

The Nevada Small Business Development Center is a statewide business assistance outreach program of the University of Nevada, Reno, College of Business. We provide a wide variety of technical assistance to support Nevada Business. The purpose of the Nevada Small Business Development Center is to guide and assist entrepreneurs in starting and growing their businesses in today’s dynamic market.

Mendenhall Innovation Program

The Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering couples entrepreneurship and design in the Mendenhall Innovation Program, a track that integrates students’ engineering background and business savvy.The Mendenhall Innovation Program, with its minor focused on the early stages of product conception and development, offers all engineering majors the opportunity to learn the basics of product commercialization from faculty and industry practitioners.
